The most surprising thing about being a first-time mom is at first it was the aftermath of actual child birth --- no one really talks about that, and the physical effect on all of your body (I had mastitis 3 times)! But in general I would say the surprising thing is about becoming a parent is constant unknowns or learning curves of becoming a mom. First time they have a fever, first time the fall and hit their head, first time you think they get teeth - and first time the ACTUALLY get them. I definitely was surprised by all the firsts that came, and still will continue to come as our son grows.
My expectation vs. experience breastfeeding I was lucky and our son latched right away, however he had a few times that all of a sudden something would throw him off. I guess I just thought there would be more of a support system of information given from the doctor. Also the amount of TIME you put into breastfeeding definitely more that I would have imagined.
The best piece of advice about motherhood is trust your instinct - and always call the night nurse if you have questions. They are there for you.

Tracy started little creatives in late November 2020, after she searched and searched to find soft, creative play options that would evolve, and grow with her son.
As a designer, and new mom, she was confused as to why kids’ creativity was an afterthought, and why it was impossible to find kids products in beautiful fabrics, yet durable for kids.
The kids’ toy and furniture industry is huge - but somehow a product that she was excited to have in her home, and checked all the boxes of open ended play and long life span didn't exist.
Luckily, and almost serendipitously, her interiors and fashion backgrounds aligned, and little creatives was born.
