Founder and mom Sarah Kallile was breastfeeding her second daughter during the pandemic and happened to catch a glance of it in the mirror. Not only was she consistently waking up in puddles of milk, but she hated the way the frumpy, sloppy bras made her look and feel. .  

Sarah wondered if she was the only one. She sent a survey to hundreds of moms and the results were loud and clear: 84% of moms were also dissatisfied. Their resounding request? Postpartum moms need a boost, not a downer of a bra. That’s all she needed to know.

Sarah and her mom Sue created the first Lunnie prototype, delivering it in a little pink bag on doorsteps around her neighborhood for moms to try on. The Lunnie Hive community was born. 

One year and six prototypes later, they nailed the final design: A chic nursing bra with leakproof, sewn-in pads. Now patented, too! Lunnie launched in March 2022 and sold out with $0 marketing.

But Sarah didn’t stop there. After outgrowing her small-batch manufacturer, she spent 2+ years working with a world-renowned bra manufacturer to create an even better Lunnie 2.0.

Sarah named Lunnie after a mashup of her own daughters’ nicknames. During the journey of creating Lunnie, she gave birth to her third daughter, proudly wearing her own design through her last nursing journey. She’d solved the problem — for herself, and for her hive.  

Today, Sarah is the proud mother of three girls under the age of 7 and still wears her Lunnie bra everyday. She’s proof that if you have a problem, there’s a determined mom who has the answer.

I created Lunnie because moms deserve better design. 

Early motherhood is hard. Postpartum bodies deserve to feel pretty and protected, but too often they’re dressed in products that feel disposable, uncomfortable, and invisible. We’re here to change that.
